Head in the Clouds, Feet in the Mud   Here, the synergy between the city’s civic and ecological functions is described. The Acropolis atop the Lougheed ridge symbolizes the civic heart of the community. This heart is supported by, and connected to, the bioengineering core at the valley bottom by an interweaving of medium-density neighbourhoods along the slope.

Continuous Loops   Central to this team’s theme of cycles is the continuous, natural exchange and transformation of energy and resources. Within the central plant, fuel cell technology becomes the means through which heat and energy from stormwater and effluent is transferred and upgraded to an energy source that is both useful and sustainable.
