The
following drawings show the conceptual evolution of Team One’s proposal.
Houses
Narrower,
more frequent blocks provide the structure around which approximately
12,000 new residential units are proposed. High-density housing is
integrated with commercial uses along significant commercial and transit
corridors, and ground-oriented medium-density housing is proposed
for interior neighbourhood streets.
Green
Space
structure goes hand in hand with the residential structure. The interiors
of blocks provide a continuous ecological thread that ties into the
larger Still Creek open-space system.
Commerce
Supporting
the residential framework is a proposed 300,000 square feet of office
space. Concentrations of retail and commercial activity occur along
the primary north-south routes and reach their greatest density
along Lougheed Highway.
Public
Civic
uses in the form of a town hall, library, community
centre, and fire hall, are integrated with an open-space
structure and are proposed at the northeast corner of the Willingdon
Avenue/Lougheed Highway intersection. Neighbourhood schools are
proposed to the south.
